Local AutoDRM Guide

The Central Seismological Observatory of BGR operates disk arrays which allow automatic processing of GRF/GRSN data requests. The data are accessable by external users via this SED AutoDRM (originally implemented by Urs Kradolfer, ETH Zuerich). The mail address of the Central Seismological Observatory AutoDRM is autodrm@szgrf.bgr.de . A mail 'please help' to this address returns a brief introduction on the AutoDRM. The data output of the AutoDRM is currently restricted to GSE2.0 format (for SH users: these data file can be read in directly with the command READGSE or 'Read GSE ...' in SHM). A conversion program to other GSE subformats (codeco) is also available via AutoDRM. GSE data are ASCII formatted data and are quite handy as long as the requested time window is not too large (less than 10min - 30min for 20Hz data, depending on the number of channels).

Automatically available data are all GRSN 20Hz and 1Hz data (since end of 1991) and 20Hz GRF data since 1980, all continuously. A more detailed and daily updated list is obtained with a special AutoDRM request (see below). It is distinguished between Jukebox data and Online data. Jukebox data are archived data of best possible quality and completeness. Online data are data on disk and may have smaller or larger gaps filled at a later time. Recoverable gaps are not very likely for Online GRF-data, but more likely for Online GRSN data. So if you requested Online data and did not receive all the data you wanted, repeat the request after the data are archived (usually between 3 and 8 weeks behind current time).
